Paramount Pictures has released a second trailer for Ebenezer, spotlighting Johnny Depp Ebenezer Scrooge in Ti West’s darker reimagining of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Variety reported Oct. 1, 2026 that the film is Depp’s first Hollywood studio starring role in eight years and is scheduled to open in theaters on Nov. 13, 2026.
What the new Ebenezer trailer shows
Variety said the logline—“The name you know, the story you don’t”—signals West’s focus on the story’s scarier edges. The trailer depicts Depp’s Scrooge haunted by frightening ghosts and includes a buried-alive sequence. West is best known for the horror trilogy X. The ensemble includes Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman, and Ian McKellen.
Depp’s studio comeback path
Variety framed Ebenezer as a major comeback vehicle. Depp’s last Hollywood studio film was 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald; he was later dropped from the 2022 follow-up. The report also noted his highly publicized 2022 defamation trial against Amber Heard. Depp is next set for Lionsgate’s Day Drinker with Madelyn Cline and Penélope Cruz, aimed at March 2027.
