The Boston Report works to get every story right. When we make a mistake, we fix it and tell readers what changed. This policy is part of our Editorial Standards & AI Use Policy.
How to request a correction
If you think a story contains an error, email stories@thebostonreport.com or use the addresses on our Contact page. Please include:
- the link to the story;
- what you believe is wrong; and
- if possible, a source that shows the correct information.
How we handle requests
We check each request against the story’s sources and any evidence you send. Peter Sinclaire, Editor & Publisher, is responsible for decisions on corrections.
How corrections are noted
- Factual errors: we fix the story and add a dated note at the end, for example: “Correction (Sept. 28, 2026): An earlier version of this story misstated the date of the hearing. It is Oct. 5.”
- Updates: when we add significant new information to a developing story, we add a dated “Update” note.
- Minor fixes: spelling, grammar or formatting fixes that do not change a story’s meaning may be made without a note.
- Serious problems: if a story cannot be supported by its sources, we will substantially correct it or remove it, and explain why.
Response time
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two business days. When an error is confirmed, we aim to correct the story within one business day.
