The Boston Report’s Boston weather section collects our forecast posts and storm coverage for Boston and eastern Massachusetts: daily Boston forecasts, seven-day outlooks, nor’easters, heat, snow and hurricanes, and what they mean for commuting, the MBTA and city services. Every forecast we publish is sourced to the National Weather Service Boston/Norton office and shows when the forecast was issued, because forecasts change several times a day.

Start with today’s Boston weather forecast for Oct. 12, or read our Hurricane Isaias damage report. For transit, see the Boston Transportation and MBTA Guide; for wider local coverage, visit Boston News.

Boston weather FAQ

Where does The Boston Report get its weather forecasts?

Our forecast posts use the National Weather Service Boston/Norton office, which issues the official forecasts, watches and warnings for Boston and eastern Massachusetts. Each post lists the forecast issue time.

Are your weather posts updated live?

No. Each forecast post reflects the NWS forecast at the time it was published. For the latest forecast, radar and warnings, use the NWS Boston/Norton office link on this page.

Where can I find Boston snow emergency and parking ban information?

The City of Boston announces snow emergencies and parking bans on its winter weather and snow pages, and through its alert system. Our posts link to those pages when a declaration is made.

How do I check whether the MBTA is affected by weather?

Check the MBTA alerts page for service changes, delays and shuttle buses caused by storms, heat or flooding.

Who should I contact in a weather emergency?

Call 911 in an emergency. For preparedness information, see the City of Boston Office of Emergency Management and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).
