Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia attacked overnight with 227 Shahed, Gerbera and Parody drones — 86 of them jet-powered Shaheds — and that air defenses had destroyed or jammed 196 of that package by 08:00 on November 6, as search teams raised the death toll from the November 2 strike on a school used as an aid center in Komyshuvakha to 53. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately said US$16 billion in agreed U.S. aid remains undelivered even as Spain added a US$489 million military package.
Key figures: 227 drones russia launched overnight, per ukraine’s air force · 196 drones ukraine said it destroyed or jammed by 08:00 · 53 dead at the komyshuvakha school/aid center after the nov. 2 strike
From the evening of November 5, Russia attacked with 227 Shahed (86 of them jet-powered), Gerbera and Parody decoy drones, Ukraine’s Air Force said, according to Ukrainska Pravda. By 08:00 on November 6 the same service said air defenses had destroyed or jammed 196 of that package, including 70 jet-powered Shaheds among those downed; about 15 attack drones remained airborne and combat continued. Hits were recorded at 14 locations and debris at eight. Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups took part in the defense, the Air Force said.
Local damage from the overnight package
In Kyiv Oblast, Tymur Tkachenko said three people were injured in the Boryspil district, a house and outbuilding burned, and energy infrastructure was damaged in Bila Tserkva and Obukhiv districts after jet-powered drones hit the Bila Tserkva hromada overnight, Ukrainska Pravda reported. In Kharkiv Oblast, two police officers were injured when a jet-powered drone struck while they warned staff at a facility in Derhachi; one officer was seriously hurt, Ukrainska Pravda reported. Rivne Oblast head Oleksandr Koval said a man was killed in a morning attack on a village in the Sarny district, with a house and lorry damaged, Ukrainska Pravda reported.
Komyshuvakha toll rises to 53
Zaporizhzhia Oblast head Mykhailo Semikin said fifty-three people are now known to have been killed in the November 2 Russian strike on the school used as an aid center in Komyshuvakha, with search and rescue still underway on the fifth day, Ukrainska Pravda reported. The rise reflects recovered remains, not a new strike in this window. Earlier reporting tracked the toll climbing through the week after the November 2 attack; our prior coverage of nuclear-plant output cuts and the Komyshuvakha strike recorded the earlier toll trajectory. The Ukraine war tracker follows the front and the air war.
Energy grid under repeat fire
DTEK said Russian forces again struck several of its Dnipropetrovsk Oblast energy facilities on the morning of November 6, damaging equipment and causing a fire at sites that had required up to three days to repair after earlier attacks, Ukrainska Pravda reported. Ukraine’s Energy Ministry separately reported new outages in seven oblasts, including Dnipropetrovsk, after overnight and morning attacks. Our earlier report on Zelenskyy’s claim that every power plant is damaged and the EU’s €4.36 billion loan covers the wider generation crisis that these repeat DTEK hits deepen.
Ukrainian strikes, aid and diplomacy
Ukraine’s General Staff said defense forces struck two Russian ammunition storage points near Melitopol and Khliborobne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, plus a UAV ground control station and a fuel and lubricants depot near Luhanske in Donetsk Oblast, on November 5 and overnight into November 6, Ukrainska Pravda reported. Those are Ukrainian claims; independent confirmation was not in the opened sources.
Zelenskyy said after meeting Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Madrid that Spain will provide a new US$489 million (€437 million) military aid package; he briefed Sanchez on Russian strikes against energy, logistics and railways and said Russia has damaged more Ukrainian locomotives this year than in all previous war years combined, Anadolu reported. In a separate interview, Zelenskyy said Ukraine has not received US$16 billion in U.S. aid envisaged by previous agreements and that the provision of those funds has been suspended: “We are grateful for everything that has been given, but Ukraine must fight for this money at the very least,” Ukrainska Pravda reported. Ukraine’s chargé Oleksandr Sienik said Kyiv still has no confirmation from the U.S. or NATO’s NSATU in Wiesbaden on how a separate US$400 million Pentagon allocation will be spent, Ukrainska Pravda reported.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said Europe must play a central role in ending Russia’s war, stating: “The future of Ukraine must not be decided without Ukraine. And the security of Europe must not be decided without Europe,” Anadolu reported. He pointed to next week’s Abu Dhabi trilateral format among Kyiv, Moscow and Washington. Our earlier report on Abu Dhabi talks set for November 10–11 outlines that track. Ukraine’s Mission to NATO said the NATO-Ukraine Council held an extraordinary Brussels meeting chaired by Secretary General Mark Rutte ahead of the November 17 Ukraine Defense Contact Group, Anadolu reported. NATO also launched a Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems marketplace under its Drone Edge initiative, with allies committing more than US$40 billion in counter-drone investment over five years, Anadolu reported.
Putin’s Kremlin meeting with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei — attended by Yuri Ushakov and GRU chief Igor Kostyukov — is covered in today’s Middle East report; the shared fact is identical across desks, Anadolu reported.
By the numbers

Ukraine’s Air Force figures for the overnight package show 227 drones launched, 196 destroyed or jammed (86.3% by TBR calculation from those Air Force numbers), 86 jet-powered Shaheds in the launch set and 70 jet-powered Shaheds among those downed, with hits at 14 locations and debris at eight. The Komyshuvakha civilian toll stands at 53 on day five of rubble work. Spain’s new package is US$489 million (€437 million). Zelenskyy put undelivered U.S. aid at US$16 billion. NATO allies’ five-year counter-drone commitment exceeds US$40 billion.
