Reach readers who live, eat and work in Boston. The Boston Report is an independent news site covering Boston, New England and the world. We offer clearly labeled sponsorships and ads for local businesses, with firm rules that keep advertising apart from our reporting. Rates are available on request.
Who advertises with us
Our advertising options are built for Boston small businesses, restaurants and local service providers: the cafe opening on a new block, the family restaurant, the contractor, the tutor, the event organizer. We cover the city every day, so a local sponsor sits next to stories about the neighborhoods and teams readers care about, including our Boston restaurants guide, the Boston small business guide and the Boston sports hub.
Ways to advertise
Sponsored content
A story or guide written with you about your business, product or event. Every piece is labeled “Sponsored” at the top, carries a disclosure line and appears in a Sponsored area, not mixed into news coverage.
Best for: restaurants, shops, service providers
Site sponsorship
A labeled “Presented by” placement on a section or page for a set period, with your name and a link. Newsletter placement is available only if and when we publish a newsletter; ask for current status.
Best for: steady local visibility
Display ads
Standard banner placements in the sidebar and within pages. Ads are always visually separate from articles, and some space may be filled by third-party ad networks whose policies also apply.
Best for: promotions and seasonal offers
Local business spotlight
A Boston-area restaurant or shop feature in our daily food and local-business coverage, clearly labeled as sponsored when paid. Editorial restaurant features we choose ourselves are never for sale.
Best for: new openings and neighborhood favorites
Event listing promotion
A featured, dated listing for a Boston-area event, with a link to your own ticket or information page, on our events and sports calendars where relevant.
Best for: festivals, tastings, fundraisers, races
Category sponsorship
Sponsor a section: Boston, Restaurants, Sports or Business. Your name appears as a labeled sponsor on the section hub. Sponsors have no say in what we report.
Best for: brands that want a consistent local audience
Custom partnerships
Have another idea, such as a guide, a series or a seasonal campaign? Tell us what you need and we will say plainly whether it fits our standards.
Best for: larger or longer campaigns
We list no prices here. Each option is quoted individually: use Request rates and tell us which option you want.
Editorial independence and disclosure
- Advertising never shapes our news. Advertisers and sponsors have no influence on what we report, how we report it or when we correct it.
- Sponsored content is labeled. Paid pieces carry a “Sponsored” label and a disclosure line, and they are not written by our news desk as news.
- No sponsored politics or government coverage. We do not sell content about elections, candidates, ballot questions or government.
- Our own features stay ours. Restaurant and business stories we choose ourselves are not for sale, and when a story is paid, we say so.
Read how we work in our Editorial Standards & AI Use Policy, our Corrections Policy and the About page.
Ad standards
We review every creative before it runs. We do not accept misleading or deceptive claims, adult content, gambling, illegal goods or services, hateful content, or anything that violates the policies of the ad networks we work with, including Google’s publisher policies. We may decline or remove an ad at our discretion.
How it works
- Tell us about your business. Email us or use the Contact Us page with your goals, timing and the option you want.
- We confirm fit. We check the request against our standards and tell you plainly if it is a match.
- Receive rates and a plan. You get current rates, availability and a media kit on request.
- Review and approve. Sponsored copy and ad creative are reviewed by you for accuracy about your business. Our news coverage is never reviewed by advertisers.
- Launch and report back. Your placement goes live with the right labels, and we share what we can measure when it ends.
