Greater Boston has a wide choice of Asian grocery stores and food halls, from H Mart’s Korean supermarkets in Cambridge, Somerville, Burlington and Quincy to Chinese markets in Chinatown, Allston, Malden and Quincy, many with food courts inside. This guide lists where they are, what is inside, and the history behind names like Super 88.

Addresses and hours come from each store’s own website or Google business profile, checked Oct. 23, 2026. Confirm before a special trip, especially around holidays.

H Mart: four Greater Boston stores

  • Cambridge: 581 Massachusetts Ave., in Central Square.
  • Somerville: 240 Elm St., Davis Square. This is the newest local store. It opened Jan. 9, 2025, and The Somerville Times reported hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
  • Burlington: 3 Old Concord Road. San Soo Kap San Sushi, which is in our local business directory, lists a suite at the same address.
  • Quincy: 101 Falls Blvd.

The Somerville Times describes H Mart as the largest Asian supermarket chain in the United States. The paper said the Somerville store carries fresh produce, meat, seafood and household items.

The Quincy store has a food hall, H Market Eatery, which The Patriot Ledger reported opened in September 2024 with eight vendors. Google business profiles at 101 Falls Blvd. currently include Oh K-Dog & Egg Toast, bb.q Chicken, Hanchon, Umai Katsu and Boon by Mukshidonna.

Near the Burlington store, our directory also lists New Jang Su Korean BBQ at 260 Cambridge St. and Sichuan Gourmet at 91 Middlesex Turnpike.

Chinatown: C-Mart

C-Mart is part of the Greater China Supermarket chain, which it says was founded in 2001 and has stores in several East Coast states. It has two Boston stores: 109 Lincoln St. in Chinatown (617-426-8888) and 50 Herald St. in the South End (617-338-8811). Both list hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.

After shopping, Chinatown’s dim sum halls and noodle shops are a short walk away; see our Chinatown restaurants guide.

Allston: Super 88, Hong Kong Supermarket and Novo Marketplace

The Super 88 name goes back to 1978, when Vietnamese immigrant Peter Luu and his son opened what was then the Cheng Kwong Market at 73 Essex St. in Chinatown, according to the Boston history site When and Where in Boston. It grew into a chain with stores in Dorchester’s South Bay, Allston, the South End, Quincy and Malden. Super 88 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2009, Supermarket News reported.

Today the Allston store at 1 Brighton Ave. operates as Hong Kong Supermarket but still carries the Super 88 sign. Its food court, across the hall from the market, was closed in June 2025 after city health inspectors cited rodent activity and plumbing problems at several stalls, Boston.com reported. The supermarket and Isshindo Ramen passed their inspections and stayed open. In June 2026, The Boston Globe referred to the food court as 88 Food Connection. Check that vendors are open before you go.

Novo Marketplace, 122 Brighton Ave., opened in May 2026. It is a 20,000-square-foot food hall with more than a dozen vendors, most of them Asian. The Globe listed Baby Cafe Kitchen (Hong Kong-style rice plates), Cotti Coffee, Fluffy Fluffy (souffle pancakes), Korean Village (tteokbokki and kimbap), Lumi Roll & Bowl (Vietnamese), Mi-Nori (sushi), Tasya’s Kitchen (Indonesian) and Zhengxin Chicken Steak, plus Indian and Turkish stalls. It listed hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Axios Boston reported the hall seats about 200 people and has a stage for events.

Malden: two markets near Malden Center

At 188 Commercial St., Google lists both a Super 88 Market and a Hong Kong Supermarket, a short walk from the Orange Line.

99 Asian Supermarket, 60 Broadway (781-338-9988), has more than 2,000 reviews on its Google profile. Several food vendors list the same address, including Bánh Mì Ba Lẹ, Kakkoii Sushi and Ramen, Lucky Fast Food and Fat Boy BBQ, a Cantonese roast meat counter.

Quincy: Kam Man Food

Kam Man Food, 219 Quincy Ave. (617-328-1533), is open 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, according to the chain’s website. Shanghai Soup Dumplings has a counter inside the store, according to its Google profile. For more places to eat in the city, see our Quincy and Malden Asian restaurants guide.

Additional details

Weekend parking is tight at the Chinatown and Allston stores, so the T is often easier. C-Mart’s Lincoln Street store is near Chinatown and South Station, the Allston market is near the Green Line B branch, and the Malden stores are close to Malden Center station.

Lunar New Year is the busiest season for many of these markets. See our Lunar New Year 2027 events guide, and browse more of our local guides.
