Geopolitics: News, Analysis and Explainers

Home › Geopolitics

Geopolitics is the study of how geography, resources, alliances and power shape relations between states, and this section of The Boston Report explains it through in-depth articles. Each piece takes one live question, such as why Cuba is under pressure, what China’s rare earth controls do or how a river treaty became a security dispute, and sets out what is documented, what each government says and where accounts conflict.

We write from primary documents, court rulings, official statements and established news organizations, and we attribute claims to the people and institutions who make them. Every article ends with a Sources list so readers can check the record themselves. Pieces that include our own view are labeled.

Use the regional sections below to follow a storyline by theme, start with the explainers if you are new to a topic, or browse the grid for the latest reports. For the military side of these stories, see our Warfare section, and for our two longest guides see the Iran War and Russia-Ukraine pages.
