Africa news on this page is the World News desk’s coverage of African governments, conflicts and diplomacy. Recent reporting has been heaviest on Sudan’s war and on Ethiopia; those countries have their own archives. Other states — including Nigeria, Kenya, Somalia, Libya, Congo and South Africa — appear in this regional feed when we publish reports that name them.
We do not maintain a separate live casualty dashboard for every African conflict. Where we have built a specialized tracker, we link it: the Ebola outbreak tracker follows cases, deaths and vaccines in Congo using sourced figures. Broader alliance and aid diplomacy may also appear under the African Union page.
Country pages are created only where the desk has a meaningful run of stories. That is a coverage choice, not a ranking of African countries. Reports can belong to this region and to Human Rights, Immigration or Global Conflict when the same piece is about displacement or fighting.
