Boston-to-Florida flights from Logan International Airport are expanding for winter and spring 2026-27, with Allegiant adding three seasonal routes, Southwest bringing back Boston-Orlando and Delta adding extra capacity around Patriots’ Day. Here is a route-by-route look at what the airlines have announced, plus what federal price data say about fares.
New: Allegiant’s three Logan routes
Allegiant Air announced in August that it will fly from Boston to three Florida airports from Feb. 13 through April 24, 2027, Boston.com reported:
- Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB)
- Punta Gorda Airport (PGD), on Florida’s Gulf Coast north of Fort Myers
- St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE)
The Las Vegas-based carrier called the routes “hyper-seasonal,” meant to meet peak spring travel demand. Allegiant is also adding service from Rhode Island T.F. Green to Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota-Bradenton and Orlando Sanford, and from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to Fort Lauderdale starting Feb. 20, 2027. Those options may suit travelers living south or north of Boston.
Returning: Southwest to Orlando
Southwest Airlines will resume its seasonal Boston-Orlando International (MCO) service starting in January 2027, according to the Fort Myers News-Press. The airline is also launching new January 2027 service to Southwest Florida International in Fort Myers (RSW) from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in New Hampshire and from Portland, Maine. Travelers in southern New Hampshire may find Manchester a practical alternative to Logan for Fort Myers.
Other New England airports
The News-Press also listed returning Southwest seasonal routes for January 2027 that serve other New England airports. From Providence’s T.F. Green, Southwest flies seasonally to Palm Beach, Sarasota and Fort Myers. From Bradley International in Connecticut, returning routes go to Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers. Travelers on the South Shore or in central Massachusetts sometimes find these airports easier to reach than Logan.
Delta’s Patriots’ Day and spring break boost
Delta said on Oct. 10 that it will add more than 45 round-trip flights and 6,000 seats out of Boston across 10 days around Patriots’ Day and school vacation, with peaks April 16-18 and April 22-25, 2027. The Delta News Hub listed these Florida figures for the peak schedule:
- Orlando: up to 35 flights per week, including seven more weekly flights
- Fort Myers: up to 21 per week, including seven added weekly flights
- Jacksonville: up to 21 per week
- Sarasota: up to 14 per week, including seven holiday-period additions
- Panama City: four additional holiday-period flights
- Destin-Fort Walton Beach: new service with four holiday-period flights
Delta said frequencies are subject to change.
JetBlue’s Florida network from Boston
JetBlue has grown its Florida map. It began Boston-Destin-Fort Walton Beach (VPS) service on March 5, 2026, flying five days a week, and described Destin as its 11th Florida destination, according to JetBlue’s investor relations site. Schedules for seasonal routes can change, so check the airline directly for winter 2026-27 dates.
What fares are doing
Airfares nationally have climbed sharply this year. The Consumer Price Index for airline fares, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and tracked on FRED (CUSR0000SETG01), stood at 327.0 in September 2026, up about 22% from 267.0 in September 2025. The index is seasonally adjusted and covers all U.S. cities, so it does not show Boston-specific prices, but it suggests that booking early for February vacation and Patriots’ Day week is worth considering.
Why demand is strong
Florida is the leading destination for Massachusetts residents who move out of state. The U.S. Census Bureau’s 2024 state-to-state migration table estimates 21,834 former Massachusetts residents moved to Florida in a single year, creating steady visiting-friends-and-family traffic in addition to vacation and snowbird travel. Florida’s population reached 23,462,518 in mid-2025, according to the Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates.
Tips for Logan travelers
- Compare Orlando International (MCO) with Orlando Sanford (SFB); Allegiant flies only to Sanford.
- For Fort Myers, compare Logan nonstops with Southwest from Manchester or Allegiant to Punta Gorda.
- Winter storms can disrupt Logan operations, as during the fuel and nor’easter cancellations we covered in September.
