Wegmans in Burlington, MA Turns 12: Hiring Event, Hours and What’s Inside

Wegmans Burlington MA at 53 Third Ave turns 12 on Oct. 26 and holds a Nov. 3 hiring event. Hours, pharmacy, Market Café and Massachusetts store details.

Wegmans Burlington MA, the 135,000-square-foot supermarket at 53 Third Avenue off the Middlesex Turnpike, marks 12 years in business on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. It is one of five Wegmans stores in Massachusetts, and its next local news is a hiring event planned for Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to a Wegmans job posting dated Oct. 20.

Hiring event set for Nov. 3

Wegmans Food Markets lists a Burlington hiring event at the store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 3. The posting covers part-time jobs for applicants 18 and older and lists starting pay of $18 to $19 an hour. It says people who cannot attend in person may still be considered through the company’s standard phone interview process.

The duties listed in the posting include customer service, stocking shelves and taking and packaging orders. The company’s Massachusetts jobs page has also listed Burlington openings this year for deli team members, cashiers, cart collectors, a lot attendant supervisor and an overnight shift manager. Benefits the company advertises include paid time off, health coverage, a 401(k) match and a scholarship program.

When the Burlington Wegmans opened

The store opened at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, as the chain’s third Massachusetts location, after Northborough and Chestnut Hill, WCVB reported at the time. WCVB noted that the Burlington building was nearly double the size of the Chestnut Hill store and was part of a larger retail development then under construction on Third Avenue.

A company announcement carried by EPR Retail News said Store Manager Kevin Russell and a team of 600 employees had spent months preparing for the opening. Wegmans is based in Rochester, New York, and its store directory says it now runs more than 100 stores across nine states.

What is inside the store

Burlington Patch’s opening coverage described a layout meant to feel like a series of separate shops. Departments named at the time included seafood, meat, deli, bakery, a cheese shop, a Mediterranean bar, a kosher section and Nature’s Marketplace for natural and organic foods. The store also has a floral shop, health and beauty aisles, and gifts and housewares.

The Market Café sells prepared foods, from subs and sushi to Asian dishes, for takeout or dine-in. Indoor seating sits on a mezzanine that overlooks the sales floor, and an outdoor patio has a fireplace. Patch reported total seating of more than 300.

A WCVB photo tour from opening week showed a two-story parking garage with a direct store connection on each level and a 12,000-square-foot wine, spirits and beer shop attached to the building. WCVB reported more than 700 beers, including about 400 craft brews, and more than 1,000 wines at opening, along with roughly 3,000 organic items. Current selections may differ.

Hours, pharmacy and pickup

The Wegmans Burlington store page lists the store as open from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. The store phone is 781-418-0700. The pharmacy, at 781-418-0745, is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Holiday hours can change, so shoppers should check the store page before a trip.

The store offers grocery delivery and pickup and takes catering orders, including party trays and custom cakes, through the company’s Meals 2GO app and website. Instacart also offers same-day delivery and curbside pickup from the Burlington location.

Burlington’s pharmacy has taken on added weight for some shoppers this year. Wegmans closed the pharmacy inside its Chestnut Hill store in April to make room for groceries, Brookline.News reported, after a resident’s petition opposing the move gathered more than 800 signatures. The company offered to move prescriptions to other Wegmans pharmacies or to home delivery.

Wegmans in Massachusetts

Besides Burlington, Wegmans operates in Chestnut Hill, Medford, Northborough and Westwood. The chain closed its Natick Mall store in 2023, saying the nontraditional mall site could not draw enough customers for its business model, WCVB reported. That store had opened in 2018 with 365 employees, who were offered jobs at other Greater Boston Wegmans locations.

Burlington’s retail hub

The store sits between Second and Third avenues near the Middlesex Turnpike, a short drive from the Burlington Mall and the office parks that line Route 128. That cluster makes Burlington one of the busier shopping destinations north of Boston. Visitors heading to the area can find nearby dining options in our Burlington restaurants guide, and residents can check the town’s winter parking ban and trash holiday schedule.
