Bose recalled about 634,759 lithium-ion rechargeable battery packs for its S1 Pro and S1 Pro+ portable Bluetooth speaker systems on Nov. 5 because of fire and overheating hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said. About 35,400 more were sold in Canada.

Which packs are covered
The recall covers battery packs whose 17-digit serial number begins with 083723, 078352, 084105, 078591, 078592, 084106 or 086409, the CPSC said. The number is on a label at the bottom of the pack. The packs were sold with the speakers and separately as accessories or replacement parts.
What owners should do
Owners should remove the battery pack and stop using it immediately, the agency said. The speakers can still run while connected to AC power. Owners can register the serial number at bose.com/support/s1-battery-recall to get a free replacement, or call 800-278-1083.
The CPSC said recalled packs should not go in the trash and should be disposed of according to local and state rules.
