TAITUNG, Taiwan — The second flight of F-16V fighters from the United States was expected to arrive at Chihhang Air Base on Sunday, Nov. 8, the Taipei Times reported. Taiwan’s air force issued a media notice for a filming session that day, the paper said, and Defense Minister Wellington Koo said Friday that the jets would arrive soon.

What is arriving

Three single-seat jets numbered 6729, 6731 and 6732 are expected, sources told the Taipei Times. The paper said they left Fort Worth, Texas, on Wednesday with aerial refueling tankers and flew to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii for inspection before continuing to Taiwan.

A delayed order

The jets are part of an order for 66 F-16Vs. The first two arrived on Oct. 2 after waiting nearly a month and a half in Hawaii for inspections and tanker scheduling, the paper reported. The air force had planned to receive all 66 by the end of this year, but deliveries are behind schedule.
