The state election is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. In-person early voting runs Oct. 17 through Oct. 30, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.

What is the deadline to register to vote?

Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026. Online registrations must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. that day, and mailed forms must be postmarked by then.

How do I vote by mail?

Apply online or with a paper application; it must reach your local election office by 5 p.m. on Oct. 27. Mailed ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 count if they arrive by Nov. 6.

Which races are on every ballot?

Governor and lieutenant governor, U.S. Senate, attorney general, secretary of the commonwealth, treasurer and auditor, plus nine statewide ballot questions. U.S. House, Governor's Council and legislative races depend on where you live.

Who is running for governor?

Three tickets are listed: Maura Healey and Kim Driscoll (Democratic), Mike Minogue and Shawn Oliver (Republican), and an independent ticket listed as James and Kittredge.

When will results be official?

Cities and towns report unofficial results on election night. The state certifies results weeks later. This tracker labels every result as unofficial or certified.

How we build this tracker: candidate lists come from the Secretary of the Commonwealth, results from the state’s certified election statistics, federal money from the Federal Election Commission, and legislative incumbents from the Legislature’s member lists. We do not publish polling averages, rankings or predictions of who will win. Spot an error? See our corrections policy.
