- Basketball Power Index: ESPN’s rating of team strength, in points per game versus an average team on a neutral court. The projected record is ESPN’s model estimate, not ours.
- Scoring margin
- Points scored minus points allowed per game; the closest simple proxy for net rating.
- Effective field-goal % (eFG%)
- Field-goal percentage adjusted so that a three-pointer counts 1.5 times as much as a two-pointer.
- GP / pts / reb / ast
- Games played, points, rebounds and assists per game.
- Rank
- Position among all 30 teams; “T-” means tied. For opponent points, 1st is the lowest. Ranks are computed by us from ESPN’s team data for all 30 teams.
Ratings explained
Where the ratings come from. Player ratings are NBA 2K27 overall ratings. Team ratings are ESPN’s Basketball Power Index (BPI). Coach and staff rows show official records only.
What they are not. 2K ratings are a video-game publisher’s assessment and are updated during the season. BPI is a statistical model; in the preseason it relies on last season and roster talent rather than games played. Neither is a Boston Report grade, and we do not invent ratings.
Gaps. Five roster players have no 2K rating in the source we used (shown as —). Players without 2025-26 NBA stats show a dash. 2K publishes only a top-100 list directly, so most ratings come from a fan-run tracker that copies 2K’s in-game numbers. Opponent records are last season’s, since 2026-27 has not begun.
