PEMBROKE, N.H. — Teamsters at the Associated Grocers Northeast warehouse in Pembroke have been on strike since Monday, Nov. 2, leaving some Vermont grocery and convenience stores with reduced stock and delayed deliveries, VTDigger reported.

What the dispute is about
Teamsters Local 633 Business Agent Keith Judge said a proposed contract would move employees off their pension plan and into a 401(k) with no company match, VTDigger reported. Contract talks had run since June, and 98% of the union’s 255 members voted to strike.
Judge said the company “refused to come into the room” at a Friday meeting. A company representative declined to comment, VTDigger said.
Who is affected
The distributor serves more than 600 grocery and convenience stores between Pennsylvania and Maine, according to The Shelby Report, as cited by VTDigger. Matt Cota of the Vermont Retail and Grocers Association called it a key supplier for the state’s country markets and community stores. “We certainly hope that this is resolved soon,” he said.
