Boston’s college hockey season is three weeks old, and Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern and Harvard have all started play heading into the weekend of Oct. 23-24, 2026. BU hosts UConn at Agganis Arena on Saturday night, BC is in Colorado for two games at Denver, and the first Hockey East meeting between two Boston schools, Northeastern at BC, comes Oct. 30-31. The Beanpot returns to TD Garden on Feb. 1 and Feb. 8, 2027.
Boston University: tight games and a Saturday rematch with UConn
BU is 3-2 after five games, according to the Hockey East composite schedule. The Terriers opened with a two-game sweep at Alaska, 2-1 in overtime on Oct. 2 and 4-0 on Oct. 3. They split a Hockey East series at Vermont, losing 2-1 on Oct. 16 and winning 2-1 in overtime the next night.
On Thursday, Oct. 22, BU lost 5-4 in overtime at UConn. The teams meet again Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. at Agganis Arena. BU then hosts Maine on Oct. 30 (7 p.m., NESN) and Oct. 31.
Boston College: a split with St. Cloud State, then Denver
BC opened its regular season with a 3-2 home loss to Alaska on Oct. 9, then split a non-conference series with St. Cloud State at Conte Forum, winning 4-0 on Oct. 15 and losing 5-3 on Oct. 17. That leaves the Eagles at 1-2 before this weekend’s trip to Denver, with games Friday at 7 p.m. Mountain time and Saturday at 6 p.m. Mountain time. In preseason exhibitions, BC lost 5-2 at Michigan State and beat the U.S. Under-18 team 10-1.
Northeastern: 2-1 and a Friday exhibition at Harvard
Northeastern won its opener 5-1 at Bentley on Oct. 10, then split a two-game set with UMass, losing 4-1 on Oct. 16 and winning 4-1 on Oct. 17. On Friday night, Oct. 23, Harvard beat the Huskies 4-1 in an exhibition, per Hockey East’s listing; exhibition results do not count toward either team’s record.
Northeastern’s next games are its Hockey East series at Boston College on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31, both at 7 p.m.; NESN carries the Saturday game. That series is the first league matchup of the season between two Boston programs.
Harvard: regular season starts against UMass
Harvard, which plays in ECAC Hockey rather than Hockey East, opens its regular season with a home-and-home against UMass: at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center on Thursday, Oct. 29, and at UMass in Amherst on Friday, Oct. 30, both at 7 p.m. The Crimson then visits BU on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and hosts BC on Sunday, Nov. 29.
Beanpot 2027 outlook
The 2027 Beanpot opens Monday, Feb. 1, at TD Garden with Boston College vs. Boston University and Harvard vs. Northeastern, according to the Hockey East schedule. The championship and consolation games follow on Monday, Feb. 8. Before then, several Beanpot teams meet in the regular season: Northeastern-BC on Oct. 30-31, Harvard-BU on Nov. 10, BC-Harvard on Nov. 29 and Northeastern-BU on Dec. 11-12, with the first BC-BU league series on Jan. 29.
It’s early, and none of the four teams has separated itself. BU has the most wins of the group at 3-2, but four of its five games were one-goal games, and three went to overtime.
