New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson said Friday that he spent several days in the hospital after “a series of unexplained neurological symptoms,” and the team ruled him out of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers at Gillette Stadium. Star receiver A.J. Brown (ankle/knee) is also out, according to the Patriots’ official Week 9 injury report released Nov. 6, 2026.

The two absences leave quarterback Drake Maye without his top receiver and his No. 2 running back for a matchup of 5-3 teams. Kickoff is 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 8, according to NFL.com.

What TreVeyon Henderson said

In a statement released Friday and published by NFL.com, Henderson described “an unexpected and unusual medical emergency involving a series of unexplained neurological symptoms that required hospitalization for several days.” He said extensive testing came back “positive and reassuring,” but “the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable.”

Henderson said the symptoms “have affected my strength, coordination, and some of my physical functions,” and that he is working with specialists and physical therapists. “My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities,” he wrote.

The team had listed the second-year back with an “illness” since Oct. 29. He has not practiced since Oct. 28 and missed New England’s 24-19 comeback win at Miami in Week 8. His most recent game was the Oct. 22 loss to Chicago, when he had five touches for 23 yards, according to NFL.com.

Coach Mike Vrabel said the team will support him. “I know that he is well-loved and respected on this football team,” Vrabel said, adding that the best way to help is “to care for him, listen to him and do whatever we can to get [him] healthy.” Vrabel gave no timeline and said “we’ll see” when asked whether Henderson could go on the non-football injury list. He also said the team does not plan to add a running back, leaving Rhamondre Stevenson, Corey Kiner and practice-squad call-up Lan Larison as the options used against Miami.

Brown misses a second straight game

Brown did not practice all week after what the team’s injury analysis called a knee “flare-up” in practice last week. He has played in only three games this season, most recently on Oct. 22, according to NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk. “I know he’s working extremely hard to get back,” Vrabel said Friday, as quoted by Sports Illustrated. Romeo Doubs, another top receiver, remains on injured reserve.

Patriots vs. Packers injury report, by the numbers

The Patriots listed seven players as questionable. Two of them, receiver Mack Hollins and lineman Greg Van Roten, opened 21-day practice windows this week and must be activated from injured reserve by 4 p.m. ET Saturday to play, the team said. New England has used four of its eight IR-return designations this season.

The likeliest boost is Hunter Henry. The tight end returned to practice on a limited basis Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday. Maye (right shoulder) practiced fully all week and has no game status. Edge rushers Gabe Jacas and Dre’Mont Jones, plus cornerback Marcus Jones and defensive tackle Christian Barmore, were also full participants Friday and carry no status. The team’s analysis noted that Jacas leads all rookie edge rushers with 10 run stops.

Green Bay is missing Parsons and four others

The Packers ruled out five players: edge rusher Micah Parsons (knee), linebacker Zaire Franklin (shin), center Sean Rhyan (ankle), lineman Travis Glover (knee) and tight end Josh Whyle (concussion). Parsons opened his practice window this week as he returns from a torn ACL and meniscus suffered last December, but he will not play Sunday. Running backs Chris Brooks and MarShawn Lloyd and cornerback Keisean Nixon are questionable.

This is a news report. Henderson’s description of his condition comes from his own statement; the team has not released additional medical details, and no timetable for his return has been given.
