Late-Night Food in Boston: 14 Places Open Past Midnight

Boston is not a 24-hour city. Many kitchens close by 10 or 11 p.m., and under Massachusetts law bars must stop serving alcohol by 2 a.m. Still, there are restaurants in nearly every neighborhood where you can eat after midnight, especially in Chinatown, Back Bay, Fenway, the South End, Allston and Dorchester.

Every restaurant below listed a closing time of midnight or later on at least several nights of the week on its Google business profile when we checked on Oct. 22, 2026. The hours for each are listed in full. A restaurant that stays open late does not always keep its full kitchen open until closing, so ask about food service before you order.

How we chose these places

This list starts with businesses in The Boston Report’s Boston directory, then adds places from Google Maps business profiles checked on Oct. 22, 2026. For late-night Boston, we searched Google Maps for late-night food across several neighborhoods and kept places whose listed hours run past midnight on multiple nights. Airport locations, chains and convenience stores were excluded. Late-night hours are often trimmed in winter or on slow nights, so call before making a special trip. We did not accept payment for placement, and we did not include places that Google marked as permanently or temporarily closed. Ratings and review counts are a snapshot from that date and will change.

Restaurant hours change often, especially around holidays and in winter. The hours above come from each business’s Google profile, not from the restaurant directly, so call ahead or check the restaurant’s own website before you go. If you run one of these businesses and see an error, email us and we will correct it.

Tips before you go

The MBTA’s subway generally stops running around 12:30 to 1 a.m., so plan a ride home. Check the MBTA for last-train times and any late-night service changes; our MBTA service changes guide tracks planned shutdowns.

Bars that serve food often require guests to be 21 or older after a certain hour. Bring ID.

Most of these restaurants are small businesses. Weekend evenings book up first; where a restaurant takes reservations, booking ahead is the safest plan. Ask about allergens directly, because menus posted online are not always current.
