Ukraine’s Air Force said Thursday that air defenses shot down or suppressed 105 of 128 Russian strike drones overnight, while search teams raised the death toll from Monday’s strike on a school used as an aid center in Komyshuvakha to 43, with about 33 people still listed as possibly trapped. Kyiv’s main private utility ordered emergency power cuts in three districts after Russian attacks hit the grid.

Key figures: 105 of 128 overnight drones downed or suppressed, per ukraine’s air force · 43 bodies recovered at the komyshuvakha aid-center strike site · €4.36 billion additional eu support loan ukraine said it received

According to a statement carried by Interfax-Ukraine, Russia fired two Kh-35 guided missiles from the Black Sea and a package of Shahed-type drones — 65 of them jet-powered — plus Gerbera and Parodiya decoys from Russian territory and occupied Crimea and Donetsk, starting at 18:00 on Nov. 4. As of about 08:00 on Nov. 5, 105 of the 128 drones had been shot down or suppressed, including 48 jet-powered ones; several drones remained airborne and combat continued. Strikes were recorded at 18 locations and falling debris at nine, the Air Force said. The New Voice of Ukraine carried the same overnight tallies.

Komyshuvakha toll rises again

Ukrainska Pravda reported that bodies of 43 people have been recovered from the rubble in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, on the fourth day of search and rescue, citing Zaporizhzhia Oblast Police and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Another 33 people may still be trapped. The school had been used as an aid center when it was struck on Monday; yesterday’s reporting had the toll at 37, then 42 in earlier Thursday updates. Separately, Ukrainska Pravda said two police officers injured in a drone attack near Komyshuvakha on Nov. 1 died in hospital, according to its report.

Local damage from the overnight package included a warehouse fire near Bucha in Kyiv Oblast and hits in Dnipro and Samar in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast that wounded at least three people and set fires at a dwelling, garages and energy sites, NV reported. Vinnytsia Oblast reported three injured and damage to critical infrastructure, Ukrainska Pravda said.

Power cuts in Kyiv

DTEK introduced emergency power cuts in Kyiv’s Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts after a Russian attack, while scheduled cut timetables remained in force elsewhere in the capital, Ukrainska Pravda reported. The overnight hits on energy sites in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast add to winter grid strain already tracked in earlier coverage, including yesterday’s report on nuclear plants cutting output after substation strikes.

On the occupied side of the line, Russian-installed Luhansk governor Leonid Pasechnik claimed seven people were killed and 14 hurt in attacks on vehicles, Anadolu Agency reported. Kyiv had not confirmed an attacker for that incident in the opened sources; the claim is attributed to a Russian-installed official Unverified claim, Russian-installed Luhansk administration (Russian occupation authority).

Erdogan, Abu Dhabi and EU cash

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters he wants to speak with Vladimir Putin after Saturday’s meeting with Zelenskyy and that Türkiye will keep working to end the war, Anadolu reported. Working-level U.S.-mediated talks in Abu Dhabi remain set for Nov. 10–11; that track is covered in our report on Witkoff’s Abu Dhabi talks and the Zaporizhzhia toll. NATO planning for deep strikes into Russia is in our Grynkevich deep-strike report. The Ukraine war tracker follows the conflict day by day.

Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said Ukraine had received €4.36 billion more from the EU Ukraine Support Loan after reforms — €3.7 billion in macro-financial aid and €660 million for defense — Ukrainska Pravda reported. Zelenskyy’s office also dismissed two senior Security Service of Ukraine officials tied to the “Operation Carthage” probe of a network accused of selling exemptions from military service, Anadolu reported.

Ukrainska Pravda, citing Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, said that as of late September Ukrainian strikes had left 15 of 38 main Russian oil refineries inoperable and cut output at 12 more, with refining volumes down 55.4% year-to-date, according to its report. Those intelligence figures are Ukrainian claims and are not independently verified here.

By the numbers

The overnight package left a clear air-defense ratio. By TBR calculations from the Air Force figures via Interfax-Ukraine, defenses neutralized about 82% of the 128 drones (105 ÷ 128), including 48 of 65 jet-powered Shaheds, or about 74%. Twenty-three drones remained unaccounted for in the “shot down or suppressed” total when the statement was issued, matching the Air Force note that several remained airborne.

Watch for a closed Air Force after-action tally, any revised Komyshuvakha toll as the remaining ~33 people are searched for, the duration of Kyiv’s emergency cuts, and whether Erdogan reaches Putin before the Nov. 10–11 Abu Dhabi talks.
