A new Worcester to Boston train schedule started today. The MBTA’s Fall/Winter Framingham/Worcester Line timetable took effect Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, replacing the May 25 schedule and ending the line’s construction schedule, which ran through Sunday, Oct. 25. Here are the weekday and weekend trains between Worcester Union Station and South Station, the fastest trip, what it costs, and the discounts that run through Nov. 30.
Weekday trains from Worcester to Boston
According to the MBTA timetable, 21 weekday inbound trains leave Worcester for South Station. The first leaves at 4:15 a.m. and the last at 10:50 p.m. Morning departures from Worcester are at 4:15, 5:00, 5:45, 6:30, 7:07, 7:35, 8:10, 9:05, 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. After that, trains run about once an hour through the afternoon. Evening trains leave at 5:45, 6:35, 7:55, 8:55 and 10:50 p.m.
The fastest scheduled morning trip is the 7:35 a.m. train (No. 5012). It stops only at Framingham, Lansdowne and Back Bay, and it reaches South Station at 8:45 a.m., which is 70 minutes. Most other trains take 84 to 100 minutes. The 6:30 a.m. train arrives at 7:54 and the 7:07 arrives at 8:34. Trains from Worcester also stop at Back Bay and Lansdowne, which is near Fenway Park, before South Station. Six more weekday trains start at Framingham rather than Worcester, so check the train number before planning a transfer.
Weekday trains from Boston to Worcester
Going west, 22 weekday trains run from South Station to Worcester. The first leaves Boston at 4:45 a.m. and reaches Worcester at 6:10. The last leaves at 11:45 p.m. and arrives at 1:16 a.m. For the evening rush, trains leave South Station at 4:00 p.m. (arriving 5:27), 4:45 p.m. (6:13), 5:30 p.m. (6:55), 6:15 p.m. (7:39) and 6:40 p.m. (8:18).
Weekend and holiday schedule
On Saturdays and Sundays, the line runs 10 trains each way. Inbound trains leave Worcester every two hours from 5:10 a.m. to 5:10 p.m., then at 6:55, 9:10 and 11:25 p.m. Most weekend trips take about 93 minutes. Outbound trains leave South Station at 5:00, 7:00, 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., and at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00, 6:45, 9:00 and 11:15 p.m.
The MBTA timetable says Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26), Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Presidents’ Day will run on the weekend schedule. The day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 27) and Martin Luther King Jr. Day will run on the weekday schedule.

Tips for Worcester commuters
Grafton, the next stop east, is also in Zone 8, so it costs the same as boarding in Worcester. The 7:35 a.m. express does not stop at Grafton, so Grafton riders who want to arrive before 9 a.m. should take the 7:07 a.m. train, which reaches Grafton at 7:19 and South Station at 8:34. Coming home, the 4:00 p.m. train from South Station gets to Worcester at 5:27 p.m., 87 minutes later. Most inbound trains also stop at Boston Landing in Brighton, but the 7:35 express does not. Because the schedule changed today, riders who saved times from the summer or the construction timetable should check them against the new PDF.
Worcester to Boston train fares
Worcester and Grafton are in Commuter Rail Zone 8. The MBTA’s fare table lists these Zone 8 prices:
- One-way: $12.25 ($6.00 reduced fare). Round trips are sold as two one-way tickets, so a round trip costs $24.50.
- Monthly pass: $388, or $378 on the mTicket app.
- Weekend Pass: $10 for unlimited Saturday and Sunday travel on every line and zone.
The MBTA says people 65 and older, students and people with disabilities may qualify for reduced fares.
Discounts through Nov. 30 and holiday passes
Two of the MBTA’s summer promotions have been extended through Nov. 30, 2026. Monthly Commuter Rail passes for Zones 1 to 10 are 50% off, which cuts a Zone 8 pass roughly in half, and the discount applies to both full and reduced fares. On weekends, monthly pass holders can also bring one companion for $1 each way. The $10 Holiday Pass covers Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, and a $10 Holiday Weekend Pass covers Thanksgiving through Sunday, Nov. 29. The MBTA sells these passes in the mTicket app, at the ticket windows at North Station, South Station and Back Bay, or on board with cash or credit. They are not sold at fare vending machines.
The MBTA is also replacing equipment. Read about the board’s recent $310 million vote for new locomotives and hybrid buses. Worcester residents can also catch up on this month’s city announcements.
