The New England Patriots host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 4:25 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium, the Patriots said. FOX will televise the game, The Associated Press reported. Both teams are 5-3, and the Patriots were favored by 3 points in the latest odds, according to AP.
Who is out and who is back
The Patriots ruled out wide receiver A.J. Brown and running back TreVeyon Henderson and listed tight end Hunter Henry as questionable, the team said. New England activated wide receiver Mack Hollins from injured reserve on Saturday after a four-game absence with a calf injury, the team said.
Wide receiver Romeo Doubs and starting guards Alijah Vera-Tucker and Mike Onwenu are on injured reserve, according to the team. Green Bay pass rusher Micah Parsons is still working back from a torn ACL, Boston.com reported.
Maye against a takeaway-heavy defense
Quarterback Drake Maye has accounted for at least three touchdowns in each of his past five games, the Patriots said. New England won four of those five, AP reported. Maye has 14 touchdown passes and two interceptions since Week 4, Boston.com reported.
The Packers have 15 takeaways, second in the NFL entering Week 9, AP reported. The Patriots have committed 15 giveaways, third-most in the league, and have turned the ball over in every game, Boston.com reported. Green Bay has allowed four completions on 16 deep passes, according to Boston.com.
“They don’t let up a lot of explosive plays,” Maye said, according to Boston.com.
Love and a Packers offense without a run game
Love leads the NFL with 2,246 passing yards and has 16 touchdown passes, AP reported. Of those yards, 824 came against the blitz, Boston.com reported. Green Bay ranks last in the league at 60.6 rushing yards per game and 2.9 yards per carry, AP reported.
New England has allowed 217.3 passing yards per game and has four interceptions, according to AP. The Patriots had a season-high five sacks in last week’s win at Miami, AP reported. Five more sacks would be the team’s first back-to-back games at that level since 2019, the Patriots said.
History and the Gillette stage
The Packers have not won in New England since a 28-10 victory in 2002, AP reported. Green Bay leads the series 7-6, according to AP. The teams last met on Oct. 2, 2022, a 27-24 Packers overtime win at Lambeau Field, the Patriots said. Green Bay’s last visit to Gillette Stadium was a 31-17 Patriots win on Nov. 4, 2018, the team said.
A win would make the Patriots 4-0 at home for the first time since 2019, AP reported. Tom Brady will call his first game at Gillette Stadium as a FOX analyst, AP reported. The Patriots scheduled a halftime ceremony honoring Rob Gronkowski for his induction into the team’s Hall of Fame, according to the team.
