Celtics vs. Knicks 2026-27: Boston won the opener

The Celtics beat the Knicks 107-103 at TD Garden on Friday, Oct. 23, before a crowd of 19,156, according to Basketball-Reference. The loss left the Knicks, under coach Mike Brown, at 0-2.

The teams meet three more times. The Knicks return to TD Garden on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. on ESPN, according to the Knicks’ schedule on NBA.com. Boston then plays twice at Madison Square Garden: a noon tipoff on Sunday, March 14, listed by MSG, and a Sunday, April 4, game that Basketball-Reference lists at 7:30 p.m. The April game falls in the final weeks of the regular season, when playoff seeding is usually on the line.

Bruins vs. Rangers: a shutout to open the season

The Bruins opened their season against the Rangers at TD Garden on Sept. 29 and won 3-0. Boston scored three times in 1 minute, 15 seconds late in the third period, NHL.com reported. Fraser Minten scored with 3:46 left, JJ Peterka added a goal with 2:54 left in his Bruins debut, and Mark Kastelic finished with an empty-net goal. Jeremy Swayman stopped all 24 shots for his 19th NHL shutout, while Igor Shesterkin made 20 saves for New York.

“It was crazy,” Peterka said of the crowd’s reaction to his goal, according to NHL.com. “They were so loud already when we got introduced, so fired up.”

Rangers coach Mike Sullivan, a Boston native, coached his 1,000th NHL game that night, the recap noted. The next two meetings are both in New York: a Saturday matinee on Jan. 16 at noon and a Wednesday game on March 3 at 7 p.m., according to Madison Square Garden’s event listings.

Patriots vs. Jets: New England leads the season series

The Patriots beat the Jets 26-19 at Gillette Stadium on Oct. 18. The team’s game notes said it was New England’s fourth straight win over the Jets and its 19th in the last 21 meetings, and that the Patriots are 15-1 in the last 16 games against New York in Foxborough.

Drake Maye threw for 235 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs in the first quarter, and DeMario Douglas caught a 9-yard touchdown, according to the notes. Cornerback Charles Woods intercepted Geno Smith in the fourth quarter, the first interception the Jets had thrown this season.

The rematch is Sunday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. at MetLife Stadium on CBS, according to the Patriots’ published schedule, which notes that Sunday games after Week 5 can be flexed. The Patriots do not play the Giants in the 2026 regular season, based on both teams’ schedules.
