Background
High North / Norwegian waters; heading to Oslo for Atlantic Future Forum Nov. 11–12USNI News reported Nov. 4 that HMS Prince of Wales is operating across the High North as flagship of the U.K. Carrier Strike Group in phase 2 of Operation Firecrest, escorted by destroyer HMS Dauntless and Royal Norwegian Navy frigate HNoMS Fridtjof Nansen. The carrier is heading to Oslo to host the Atlantic Future Forum on Nov. 11–12 (Atlantic Future Forum site). It loaded munitions and supplies at Hammernesodden, Namdalseid, Norway, on Oct. 26 — a first for a Queen Elizabeth-class carrier outside the U.K., per a U.K. Ministry of Defence photo release cited by USNI News. GB News reported Nov. 3 that two embarked F-35Bs were scrambled when a Russian Tu-95 approached the strike group in the Norwegian Sea; a UK MoD spokesperson said the aircraft subsequently departed. Per the Royal Navy (royalnavy.mod.uk), RFA Tideforce supported both carriers during six weeks in the North Atlantic and Arctic (released Nov. 3). Status: Deployed (as reported by USNI News / Royal Navy).
