Boston’s dining scene is moving quickly this fall: a French-Canadian tavern in Fort Point, a rooftop-style dining room above South Station, a matcha-and-cocktail bar in the Seaport, and a wave of chain expansions, alongside high-profile closures. This guide collects what we have verified as of Oct. 10, 2026, organizes it by openings, closings, awards, neighborhoods and seasonal picks, and links to every Boston Report restaurant story. New restaurant openings (as of Oct. 10, 2026)
- Celine, Fort Point: a French-Canadian-inspired restaurant and bar at 324 A St. in the former Blue Dragon space, from the Coda Hospitality Group behind the Salty Pig, Baleia and SRV. It is open for dinner daily, with lunch and weekend brunch to come, per Boston Magazine. The menu includes a Lyonnaise salad topped with a poached-meets-deviled egg and a Québécois maple cake.
- The Moseley, South Station: a nearly 10,000-square-foot restaurant on the ninth floor of the new South Station Tower at 680 Atlantic Ave., the first Boston project from Chicago-based Episcope Hospitality. It seats more than 200, has an outdoor terrace, and is open to the public Monday to Friday 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m. and Saturday 5–9 p.m., according to BostonChefs.
- Bloom Matcha & Cocktails, Seaport: a 20-seat bar at 60 Seaport Blvd. that opened Oct. 6, serving matcha and hojicha 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and cocktails 5–11 p.m., closed Mondays for the first two weeks, per Boston.com.
- Yeanie’s Burgers and Social, West Roxbury: owner Phi Pham’s seventh restaurant, at 1761 Centre St., opened in September after long delays, with the same smash-burger menu as its Dorchester sibling (Boston.com openings roundup).
Coming soon
- MOTW Coffee & Pastries: a new Financial District café at 45 Broad St., expected mid-October; the cafés fund the Muslims of the World humanitarian nonprofit.
- 7th Street Burger: Saugus (880 Broadway) later this month and Harvard Square (37 Brattle St.) in early 2027, joining Newbury Street and South Boston locations.
- Badam Uyghur Cuisine: a roughly 16-seat Uyghur restaurant at 58 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown, expected in November from the owner of Cambridge’s Silk Road Uyghur Cuisine.
- bb.q Chicken: Korean fried chicken openings planned for 1459 Dorchester Ave. and 1019 Trapelo Rd., Waltham in October, with Framingham and Revere targeted for late 2026 or early 2027 (What Now Boston).
Closings and changes
Cookie chain Chip City closed all locations, including shops in Back Bay, the North Station area, Harvard Square and Arsenal Yards in Watertown, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, which quoted a notice citing “significant macro-economic headwinds.” In Needham, Mandarin Cuisine at 238 Highland Ave. will serve its last meal under current ownership on Oct. 31 after 37 years, and the space will be handed to new owners (What Now Boston). Rising costs remain a worry for independents; the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book cited higher food and energy costs in our small business economy report.
Awards and lists
The James Beard Foundation announced its 2026 semifinalists on Jan. 21. Greater Boston had 10 in the national categories, including O Ya (Outstanding Restaurant), Ostra (Outstanding Hospitality), Talulla (Wine and Other Beverages Program) and Spoke Wine Bar (Outstanding Bar), plus five Best Chef: Northeast semifinalists: Comfort Kitchen in Dorchester, La Padrona in Back Bay, Tonino in Jamaica Plain, Lenox Sophia in South Boston and Lê Madeline in Quincy (Boston Magazine). Boston Magazine noted there was very little overlap with Boston’s first Michelin Guide: only La Padrona and Lenox Sophia appeared on both lists.
